A Travel Realy Phone works like any other cell phone. We only sell high quality, well tested MOTOROLA cell phones. All Travel Ready Phones work on the GSM system used in almost EVERY country in the world. Here in the US we have two choices when it comes to GSM systems; AT&T and T-Mobile, but in most other countries every network is a GSM network.
GSM phones are great because they use SIM cards. These are small computer cards that usually install just below the battery. Many people feel their only cell phone options when traveling abroad are to purchase an expensive phone and roaming plan from AT&T or T-Mobile or use one of the "international roaming" SIM cards in their GSM phone. These services usually charge from $1 to $5 per minute for both incoming and out going calls.
You can access better service and pay far less by using local network SIM cards. These are called "Pre-Paid" SIM's and are generally available in retail outlets such as convenience stores. No credit checks or contracts; you pay only for the calling time you use. Just check around the cash register or ask a clerk, THEY'RE SOLD EVERYWHERE!
However, please be aware that to use these local SIM cards, your phone must be UNLOCKED. Unlocked means the phone isn't set to work with only the network that sold the phone. All Travel Ready Phones phones are UNLOCKED and will work with any service provider and can accept a SIM card from ANY GSM network, here in the US or overseas.
You also MUST make sure your phone uses the proper "band" or frequencies. This is really not a problem as almost every country in Europe, Asia and Africa use the GSM 900/1800 bands. ALL TRAVEL READY PHONES WORK ON GSM 900/1800 BANDS as well as the GSM 1900 band used here in the US!
Pay the ENTIRE cost of a Travel Ready Phone with 3 or 4 10 minute overseas calls back to the US. That's right, by using local netowrk SIM cards you will save MORE than the cost of ANY of our phones compared to using AT&T or T-Mobile roaming or an "international roaming" SIM card. PLUS when using AT&T, T-Mobile or International SIM cards, it is always stipulated that one must have "a device (phone) that operates on the proper frequency (band) for the destination country". This is the real kicker, YOU USUALLY STILL HAVE TO PURCHASE ANOTHER PHONE!
Travel Ready Phones will be happy to help. We offer free, personalized information on purchasing a SIM for the country or countries in which you'll be traveling. Just click on the "Contact Us" button in the navigation bar, let us know where you'll be traveling and we'll fill you in on what networks are available and how to purchase a SIM card. It's really easier than it sounds.
